Community Services
Villa Maria provides support services to assist older people to remain living as independently for as long as possible in their community. These support services include:
- Carer Services in the Hume Region;
- Information and referral (Commonwealth Carelink Centre);
- Care coordination and brokerage;
- Rehabilitation;
- Dementia respite; and
- Day programs.

Community care / support is about finding ways that suit individual needs to assist you or the one you care for to continue to live as independently as possible in the community.

What community support services are there?
- Community Aged Care Packages - planned and coordinated packages of care with additional funds to purchase support.
- Extended Care in the Home - a package of planned and coordinated services, including nursing and personal care, provided in the home of an aged, frail person who would otherwise require high level residential aged care.
- Carer Services - planned and emergency respite services in home and out of home and flexible options for carers of older people and younger people with a disability living in the Hume Region.
- Holiday houses - planned short term respite for carers of older people and younger people with a disability.
- Ageing with a disability program - an innovative program offering outreach, service coordination, transition planning and short term accommodation for ageing carers of people with a disability living in the Northern Metropolitan Region.
- Commonwealth Carelink Centre - an information and referral service for people with an interest in finding out about services for older people in the Hume Region.
- Community Rehabilitation Centre - providing rehabilitative therapy services to older people primarily living in the Knox local government area.
- Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) - an information and support program.
- Adult day programs - provide day activities at the Wantirna site services to older people primarily living in the Knox local government area.
- Dementia respite - providing overnight respite and day activities for people with dementia primarily living in the Knox local government area.
