Aged Residential Care - Admissions, Costs and Vacancies

Admission

Admission is available to all persons with a current Aged Care Assessment Service . High level assessment for nursing home needs; low level assessment for hostel needs. Clients wishing to access respite require ACAS assessment with respite eligibility specified. Admissions are offered to concessional and non-concessional persons.

Admission to Villa Maria's facilities are taken from our priority waiting lists as per Villa Maria Policies and Procedures. Residential Agreements follow guidelines set down in legislation under the Retirement Villages Act 1986.

Cost of care

You may be asked to pay for services in an aged care home in several ways, depending on your income and assets. Daily care fees contribute to your daily living costs, which can include:

Centrelink/DVA Financial Assessment

As of 1 July 2005 concessional or assisted persons making application for residential aged care are required to submit a ‘Request for an Assets Assessment’ form (available in 5 Steps to Aged Care booklet) to Centrelink (Aged Care Assets Assessments P O Box 2771, Cheltenham 3192) or DVA (Aged Care Assets Assessments GPO Box 87A, Melbourne 3001) for assessment of the financial status of the applicant.

Centrelink/DVA will forward a letter to applicants POA or next of kin within 14 days of lodgement detailing applicant’s current financial details and confirming their concessional or assisted status. A copy of this letter should be included with the application and the Aged Care Assessment when making application to Aged Care Facilities.

Please note ‘Request for an Assets Assessment’ form can only be completed by the person themselves or their nominated Power of Attorney (Financial or Enduring).
