Aged Care Respite

What is Aged Care Respite?

Respite beds provide a break for full time carers, supporting someone at home. Respite beds are only available short term and clients are eligible for a set number of days per year.

Who is Aged Care Respite for?

Respite Admission is available to all persons with a current Aged Care Assessment Service. Clients wishing to access respite require ACAS assessment with respite eligibility specified. Admissions are offered to concessional and non-concessional persons.

Admission to Villa Marias facilities are taken from our priority waiting lists as per Villa Maria Policies and Procedures. Residential Agreements follow guidelines set down in legislation.

Where can I get access to Aged Care Respite?

Villa Maria has one residential aged care site that provides Aged Care Respite. This is located at Wantirna and offers one planned respite bed.

A Centre Manager manages the facilities and a Unit Manager coordinates the clinical care. There are registered nurses on duty 24 hours every day in the co-located high care facility. We have full time Activities Coordinators who oversee all resident lifestyle activities, supported by a very generous group of volunteers.

Residents from all nationalities and denominations are welcome. We have regular church services at each facility and pastoral care support is available by referral.

For more information on accessing low level respite, see the Admissions and Costs page.
