Villa Maria sincerely thanks all of the generous donors and supporters who helped us to provide and deliver festive hampers for disadvantaged people in our community at Christmas.

Over many years, Villa Maria has provided festive food hampers for the most financially and socially disadvantaged people who receive services from us.

Last Christmas, the impact of a long drought and bushfires on rural communities, plus the toll of the global recession, meant that we expected to provide more than 400 hampers. This was a greater number than we had provided in previous years and more than we could provide by ourselves.

We again sought support from the community and from our own employees towards the cost of filling the hampers with festive goodies.  We were overwhelmed by the response.

Derryn Hinch and Peter Maher of the Radio 3AW Drive Program gave us generous air-time to put out a call for support. Members of the public, some of whom had not supported us before, donated items and money so that we could provide a good Christmas for families across metropolitan and rural Victoria.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the following companies who supported our Christmas Hamper Appeal: Bertocchi Smallgoods, SKF Australia, Premium Health, EatRite, Bidvest, SAJ Fruit Supply, Flavour Makers, Willow Creek Vineyard of Merricks North, Shell Australia, Genoa Food, Coffex Coffee, Safeway Kew, Jonny’s of Kew, Village Cinemas, Clovelly Fine Foods and Rita’s Nut Shop at South Melbourne Market.

We would also like to thank Villa Maria staff and volunteers for their Christmas spirit. In addition to donating money and goods, they also gave their time to help organise, pack and deliver the hampers.
