A carer is someone who provides unpaid help and support to a partner, relative or friend who is unable to manage without their help. Villa Maria carer support services provides carers with information on respite options and services, carer support, short-term funding options and links into ongoing services in the community throughout Victoria and in the Riverina area of New South Wales. Carer services available include: Carer Support Program (Eastern Region)Carer Support Program (Eastern region) assists carers by providing them with a range of flexible respite and support options. The program receives short-term funding from the Department of Human Services to assist carers whilst linking them into ongoing support services. The Carer Support Program can assist by providing a variety of carer services including short term case management, flexible respite, social support, education and allied health support, home care services and access and information to long term services. Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre – CRCC (Hume Region)The Commonwealth Carelink Centre provides a single point of contact for information on support services available in your region. It is a resource available to individuals, carers, service providers, general practitioners and other health professionals. Commonwealth Carelink Centres provide free and confidential information on aged care, disability support and carer support services. The Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre can provide carers with respite and support. The Centre offers short-term care to help a family or individual take a break from the daily routine and stress of caring for someone who is frail aged, ill or who has a disability. For more informationT: 1800 052 222* Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre Young Carers (Hume Region)A young carer is a child or young person under 25 years who provides support for a family member who has a chronic illness, disability, mental health problem or is frail aged. Our Carer Support Program supports young carers in the Hume Region to access carer services and information that is responsive to their needs. Support is also available through education, workshops and counselling. For more InformationT: 1800 052 222* or 58328 444 Mental Health Respite Program (Hume Region)The Mental Health Respite Program offers short term flexible respite care options for carers and family members of people who have a severe mental illness and people with an intellectual disability. Priority is given to elderly parents aged 65 years or older and over 50 for indigenous carers. We provide flexibility and choice for carers, access to appropriate services, information, advocacy and support. Our Mental Health Resource Consultant works in partnership with carers and mental health networks to support a regional coordination of carer services. Dementia CarersCarer of person with younger onset dementia (Eastern Region)Younger onset dementia is a diagnosis of any form of dementia prior to 65 years of age. It can present many issues for carers such as changes in employment and relationships, grief and loss issues, financial and legal issues or the ability to access relevant information or support. Villa Maria provides carer services such as carer support and advocacy, respite options, long term supports and future planning for carers looking after someone with early onset dementia in the Eastern region. Dementia Education and Training for Carers Program (Hume Region)This program is for carers of people with dementia and/or challenging behaviours.
